Ignite a Love for Music through
Instruments, Movement, and Song

Jody McKay, Program Director and Teacher
Jody McKay holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education from Montclair State University in New Jersey, where she studied French horn and piano. She is trained in a wide range of music education methodologies—including Kodály, Orff, Dalcroze, and Suzuki—with a special focus on early childhood music education.
Her teaching career began in the New Jersey public schools, where she taught middle school band and elementary vocal music. After moving to Arizona, Jody founded Little Music Makers of Flagstaff in 2017. She has written on all of the Little Music Maker curriculum, which fosters a lifelong love of music through playful, developmentally appropriate experiences.
Jody holds current K–12 Music Teaching Certifications in both Arizona and New Jersey and is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association, the Arizona State Music Teachers Association, and the Northern Arizona Music Teachers Association.
In addition to teaching, Jody maintains a private piano studio and serves as Managing Director of the Master Chorale of Flagstaff, a non-profit music organization. She is also a founding member and Board President of the Northern Arizona Youth Chorale.
Above all, Jody treasures her role as a mom to her two children. She finds daily inspiration in the natural connection young children have with music and loves watching both kids and parents/caregivers build lasting friendships through shared musical experiences.
